Cloud Gate

At 66 feet long and 33 feet tall and weighing over 110 tons, Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate (affectionately called “The Bean”) is a major focal point and must see attraction of Millennium Park.

Erecting the steel truss framework which support 168 pieces of stainless steel skin, welding the plates together and polishing the plates to create its seamless finish was all performed by the skilled iron workers of MTH

Working intermittently, it took over 16 months to construct but it was well worth the wait.

In the summer of 2019, “The Bean” was vandalized by graffiti artists. Working with the city, MTH was able to clean the iconic landmark in less than 24 hours.
